The Chief Justice said he was delighted to announce the appointments, saying that the newly appointed Senior Counsel had been selected from a talented pool of applicants after extensive consultation and discussion. [See Media Release]. Criteria for selection include legal learning, experience and skill in advocacy, integrity, availability to prospective clients and independence.
Mr Barklay was admitted to practice in 1997. He has a Bachelor of Laws from Bond University. He joined the Independent Bar in 2010. Mr Barklay practises predominantly in the area of criminal law, appearing mainly in the Supreme and District Courts of South Australia.
